We recognize that COMPEER is a collective endeavour that seeks to address the concerns of diverse stakeholders. Therefore, following consultations, we decided to make several amendments to the text of the Concordat. First, we added research institutions to the list of actors whose participation is instrumental in mitigating the effects of the pandemic. Second, we included a caveat about offering financial support in emergency situations in Article 10 of COMPEER. This change seeks to alleviate the concerns of those institutional actors who may experience financial constraints.
Original version of Article 10
- Recognize the stress and anxiety that the pandemic has caused and offer long-term psychological and financial support and counselling for mitigating its consequences.
Updated version of Article 10
- Recognize the stress and anxiety that the pandemic has caused and offer long-term psychological and counselling as well as, whenever possible, emergency financial support for mitigating the crisis’ consequences.
By making these changes, we aim to ensure that all interested stakeholders collaborate on mitigating negative consequences for the research ecosystem caused by the pandemic. We invite all actors of the global research community to read, sign, and share this Concordat.
